Dealing with Stress (Ways to Improves Life)
1. Avoid Caffeine, Alcohol, and Nicotine.
Avoid or reduce your daily consumption of nicotine or any drinks that contains alcohol and nicotine. Caffeine and nicotine are stimulants that can increase your stress level instead of reducing it. Alcohol is a depressant when taken in large quantities that will not help you to alleviate stress. Swap all these drinks with water, herbal teas or juices that can keep yourself hydrated and able to help you to cope better with stress.
2. Get More Sleep.
Not having enough sleep can be one of the causes of stress. Lack of sleep can as well due to the stress that interrupts your mind to be in a calm state before you sleep and thus, stopping you to fall asleep. In order to get enough sleep, you should maximize your body relaxation before going to sleep. Start to get ready to sleep early than usual, try to take a warm bath, read a calming book for a few minutes while having your aromatic diffuser with the scent of lavender on. Try to keep this routine every day so that your body gets used to this bedtime routine and enable you to achieve a night of healthy sleep.
3. Manage Your Time
The feelings of overburdened by our ‘To Do’ list is also a common cause of stress. Self-love is when you can accept that you can not do everything at once. Hence, start to learn to prioritize your tasks or works according to a time frame that suits your schedule. Lists all the things you need to do in order according to their priority and start with the highest priority. Remember to include time for your own relaxation and well-being.
4. Rest if You’re Not Feeling Well
If you are feeling unwell, do not feel that you have to carry on. Forcing yourself to settle things in an unwell conditions will increase your stress level and delay your recovery process. A short spell of rest will enable your body to recover faster.
5. Indulge in Physical Activity (light workouts)
Stress can also increase your stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol in your body. These are the “flight or fight” hormones that are secreted in a stressful situations. Thus, physical exercise such as light workouts able to surrogate the metabolization of the excessive stress hormones and ensure your body and mind to calm down and more relax.
